Tatiana

Tatiana so sweet and shy,
Beguiling apple of one’s eye.
She fell for a suitor poor but true
But her parents declared he would not do.

So they contrived to find a beau,
That for high society to make a show.
He would be handsome and also rich,
Their daughters heart he would soon bewitch.

And so it came the maiden met,
A dashing baron of the ‘smarter set.’
He was a rogue; but on his best behavior,
With naïve Tatiana he did make favor.

Tatiana soon had lost her head
And in the Spring the two were wed.
But soon his plan was clear enough.
He wanted her only for her stuff.

Tatiana was broken hearted,
From her one true love she had been parted.
Upon her spouse she drew a blade-
But mortally she was betrayed.

In the after life she cannot rest-
Tormented always from her rest,
By the one true love she did forsake,
That causes her poor heart such ache.
